PS5 UK restock LIVE – When will the PS5 be back in stock at Argos, GAME, Amazon, John Lewis, Very? Time and date latest

AMAZON UK, Very, John Lewis, Asda, ShopTo and eBuyer are all rumoured to have PS5 drops lined up over the next week.

And GAME looks likely to follow suit from April 6-8, say tipsters on social media.

In fact, April looks set to be a big month for PS5 restocks.

Insiders claim console availability will be "good" after a "dry spell" at the end of March.

Rumours continue that Amazon is about to make a large drop of PS5 consoles any day now.

There are also hopes that stores like Very and John Lewis will also get their hands on the in-demand consoles in the first week of April.

MSTVTweets said: "Seems like a dry spell is ahead of us, but April will be good."

And there are whispers from stock tracking sites claiming consoles will land at GAME in the coming week – although, as always, nothing is guaranteed.

ASTRIA ASCENDING TO LAUNCH ON PS5 AND XBOX

Astria Ascending will launch on the PS5, Xbox and Nintendo Switch later this year.

“In Astria Ascending, we wanted to explore how people cope in extraordinary times,” said Artisan Studios game director Julien Bourgeois. “Each hero has their own perspective, but it’s the relationships they form with one another that truly brings the story to life.”

Dear Villagers head of publishing Guillamet Jamet added, “Seeing this world come together has been a delight. And it’s an honor to have so many legends on the team helping out—like a childhood dream come true. Astria Ascending is more than an homage to the classics. It’s the perfect next step in our publishing line of ambitious JRPGs,” VG Chartz reported.

40% SURGE IN INTERNET DATA USAGE – STUDY

During the UK’s Covid lockdown, which started on March 23, 2020, there was a 40 per cent surge in internet data usage, driven by schools shutting and adults moving to home-working.

And whereas the first major increase in internet traffic pre-pandemic would usually occur at 3.30pm when children returned from school, the first major increase in usage now starts from 10am.

Max Taylor, consumer director at Vodafone, which has launched its new Pro Broadband service, said: “Over the past year, the way we use our home broadband has changed significantly, with more use due to the demands of home and school working.

“In addition to that, the need for online entertainment has been at its highest ever – whether that’s tuning into box sets, Premier League matches, or gaming updates for the likes of the PS5 or Xbox Series X.

“Families now want guaranteed WiFi in every room, and pricing that isn’t eye-wateringly expensive, given the fact many are having to tighten their purse strings to cope with recent events.”

PLAYSTATION GIVES FIRST LOOK AT NEW VR CONTROLLERS

PlayStation has given gamers a first look at the new controllers for its next virtual reality system, saying they will offer “stronger immersion”.

The console’s maker Sony confirmed last month that it was developing a new version of its PlayStation VR (PSVR) headset to go with the latest PS5 console, which launched at the end of last year.

Now the gaming giant has released the first images of the new controllers and their “orb” shape, with the traditional PlayStation controller buttons split between the two pieces of hardware.

The controllers will be tracked by the headset to help reproduce a user’s hand movements in virtual reality.

They will also feature what it calls finger touch detection which can tell the difference between a finger being placed somewhere and pressure being applied on purpose, to enable more natural hand gestures during gameplay.

JOE BIDEN SUPERCHARGES CHIP MANUFACTURING IN US

Sony Corp CFO Hiroki Totoki says it is difficult for the company to increase production of the PS5 amid the shortage of semiconductors.

A global semiconductor chip shortage has caused a major delay in manufacturing activity.

This has seen automakers cut down on production and electronic device makers struggle to keep pace with a pandemic-led surge in demand for phones, TVs and gaming consoles.

The scarcity has prompted US President Joe Biden to sign an executive order to address the issue, after he pledged to seek $37billion in funding for legislation to supercharge chip manufacturing in America.
