Hamptons’ priciest summer house available to rent immediately

Hamptons developer Joe Farrell is listing his luxurious “Sandcastle” home as a summer rental for $2 million from now until Labor Day.

That mighty price appears to make this Bridgehampton spread the area’s priciest rental, according to Hamptons real estate listings site Out East.

The mansion, at 612 Halsey Lane, is where celebs like Beyoncé and Jay-Z, and Justin Bieber have stayed in past years. It is also on the market for sale asking $39.99 million.

The 17,000-square-foot home, repped by Christopher Covert of Saunders & Associates, features 10 bedrooms and 15 bathrooms. There’s also a large pool, a 2,400-square-foot pool house, an oversize hot tub and sunken tennis courts — all on 11½ acres. The home’s main level alone features a foyer, a formal living room, a chef’s kitchen and a formal dining room. There’s also a walnut library and a 10-seat theater.

Sandcastle also has a two-lane bowling alley, a climbing wall and skateboard half pipe and a nightclub-like area with a DJ booth.

Normally, summer rentals run from Memorial Day through Labor Day. But the demand for rentals starting in March has been unprecedented as wealthy New Yorkers flee the city to hunker down in self-quarantine amid coronavirus’ spread throughout the state.

In response, Farrell is putting all of his for-sale Hamptons homes on the market as rentals beginning immediately and lasting through Labor Day.

“Altogether, that’s $5 million worth or rental inventory,” he says. “We’ve never done that before, but the demand for summer rentals has been unprecedented due to the coronavirus threat.” The rentals range in price from $25,000 for a one-bedroom apartment to the $2 million Sandcastle listing.
